About Me And My Approach

I practice from both a relational and an attachment based framework

It’s widely known that the main driver of successful outcome in psychotherapy is the quality of the relationship between the patient and the clinician. It is also acknowledged that the majority of mental health issues are either caused, maintained, or intensified by unhealthy relationships. For these reasons, I place a great deal of emphasis upon our relationship as a foundation for implementing any clinical interventions.

The process of psychotherapy can provide a “developmental second chance”, but it demands a mutually trusting, vulnerable, and collaborative relational environment to get there. The experience of being seen in an emotionally vulnerable state can be among the most frightening and psychologically damaging experiences when it is followed by judgment, criticism, or indifference. Fortunately, this experience can also serve as the vehicle for healing when it’s responded to with acceptance, nurturance, and care.

Cultivating a consistently safe, honest, and authentic relationship with a professional we trust can leave us feeling empowered. Before long, we find within us the courage to explore, accept, and address the more difficult aspects of our lives. Supported by my extensive training and experience administering psychodynamic, attachment based, cognitive behavioral, and exposure based interventions, we can leverage this newfound bravery to address the parts of yourself you struggle with the most.
